What is an Aqua Fresca?
An aqua fresca is an non-alcholic mexican fruit beverage. As it translate to "fresh water" it is just a summery drink made with water and fresh fruit. Typcially aqua fresca is also seasoned with sugar and lime juice.
Last summer, we were so reluctant to buy watermelons. Not because we aren't watermelon eaters. But instead because we couldn't finish an entire watermelon. I mean its usually not a problem because we would always get our watermelon fix from summer get togethers. Since last summer that was out of the picture, we were stuck (no get togethers = no watermelons = what a completely lackluster summer!)
While eventually we gave in an starting grabbing watermelons. First snacking on them, them making watermelon feta salads. But once we started making watermelon aqua frescas, it was like we couldn't buy watermelons fast enough!
We've been on an aqua fresca kick ever since (also you know there's going to be watermelon aqua fresca recipe coming soon)! The best aqua fresca is made with fruit thats in season and fresh.
This year, we're starting off with a nice springy strawberry mint aqua fresca.
