Talk about warm and cozy! I mean how do you get cozier than a cup of hot chocolate? Well what if you add in some warm chai spices, like cardamon and cinnamon and nutmeg! Masala spiced hot chocolate is the ultimate cup of cozy on those cold winter days!

Can't wait for the next snow day! Better yet, don't wait for a snow day, the weather is cold enough these days that a masala chai spiced hot chocolate is going to be needed everyday this week!

How do you make Masala Spiced Hot Chocolate?
It's so embarrassingly simple! Just a some chai spices to your hot chocolate while its simmering away.
First step is to get your milk simmering on the stove with your favorite chai spices. I do not recommend using water for this because I think its best when its creamy. But you can definitely, sub milk with your favorite non-dairy alternative.
I like to use these spices, I think they compliment chocolate the best!
- Cardamom Pods
- Cloves
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Star Anise
Next add in your favorite scoop or two of hot chocolate mix and that's basically it! For an extra creamy hot chocolate experience, use a milk frother or even an immersion blender to blender the mixture until smooth. Just remember to remove the whole spices before using an immersion blender in the mixture.

Let's Top it with Homemade Whipped Cream
For even more creaminess, top the masala hot chocolate with homemade cardamom vanilla whipped cream!
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer (preferably with a cold mixing bowl and whisk attachments) whip heavy cream, a little vanilla extract and cardamom together until light and airy. Add in a little sugar for sweetness, if desired.
