What's Mother's Day without flowers and breakfast? Here's a lavender berry jam that's perfect for any day but especially a Mother's Day breakfast!! Yup cooking with flowers!!

Pretty simple, straightforward ingredients:
- Blueberries
- blackberries
- Dried Lavender
- Lemon - zest and juice
- Vanilla Extract
- Sugar
- Water
Did you know how easy it is to make jam? I really didn't before, I mean all you need is fruit, sugar and water.
All really simple ingredients. Well excpet for that dried lavender. But that one is easy to grab from a specialty store or Amazon. Here's the one I bought, its a pretty good amount and the lavender is super fragrant! A little goes a long way with these!
So I just tossed all of those ingredients into a small saucepan and let simmer for about 20 minutes. Once it cooled, mash it up and strain out all of the seeds and berry pulp and store that berry lavender jam away!

What to eat this jam with?
Once that fruity floral jam is cooled, you can use it right away! Make a floral peanut butter and jam! These would be perfect in thumbprint cookies as well!
So I kept it simple but still tried to make it look fancy! I just got these delicious store bought croissants and then paired it all with whipped vanilla cream cheese! Whipped vanilla cream cheese is so easy and pairs perfectly with the lavender berry jam. Its cream cheese that is whipped with a mixer to get it softened and fluffy, and flavored with vanilla! If you need it to be sweet, I recommend adding honey. I actually prefered to keep it unsweetened because the lavender jam is sweet enough. And I really like that sweet and tangy combo it offers. You know like an elevated cream cheese and jelly sandwich! Tell me I'm not the only one that loves that pair! Lol!

Easy to make and even easier to devour!

Lavender Berry Jam
Ingredients
Berry Lavender Jam
- 1 cup blueberries
- ½ cup blackberries
- 2 teaspoons dried lavender culinary infusions
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup water
Whipped Vanilla Cream Cheese
- 4 oz cream cheese
- ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste or extract
- 1 teaspoon honey optional
Instructions
Lavender Berry Jam
- Put all ingredients for jam into a small saucepan. Stir occasionally. Cook for about 20 minutes or until berries have popped and water has reduced. Set aside to cool.
- Once jam has cooled, mash the berries a bit and strain the jam through a sieve. This will give you a smooth consistency and remove all of the berry and lavender seeds from the jam. Store in an airtight container, refrigerate until ready to eat.
Whipped Vanilla Cream Cheese
- Add the cream cheese, vanilla (and honey if using) into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Mix the cream cheese until it is softened and the vanilla is fully incorporated.
- Serve the lavender jam and whipped vanilla cream cheese on croissants, toasts or any other baked good!

I am normally not a lavender fan, but this jam sounds amazing! I am going to have to try it next time I do kitchenschool with the kids

Yea I get it, it can be strong! I would reduce the lavender even more so you get just a hint of it. and make sure to strain it! You definitely do not to bite down on it!
