So we recently took Jaiden to the Crayola Factory in nearby Easton PA for part of his 3rd birthday celebration.
Honestly, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, thinking it was just a crayon factory/workshop. I read from their website they had a ton of exhibits and activities but was it really going to be that much different than sitting at home with some crayons (other than the fact that there would be a million screaming kids running around us?).
Luckily, I was in for a surprise! I am really glad we decided to check out this nearby kiddie attraction. It is a great option for an indoor activity for the under 5 years old kiddies. Of course the Crayola Factory has a lot of fun, interactive activities that involve coloring and drawing but a lot of their exhibits also have the kids moving around!
They also give you a pretty good understanding of the variety of their products as well. Its definitely not just colors and markers, like I was initially thinking, although they do have a crazy amount of those! They have a watercolor station, modeling magic clay area, turn yourself into a coloring page printers, crayon melting/making stations, a giant lighted peg board, as well as plenty of areas for the kids to run around, climb and stay moving.
Our Favorite Activities
For us grown-ups, our favorite part of the Crayola factory was the crayon melting and hot wax stations on the 3rd floor. We had a blast with the melted wax art that you can make! The melted wax spin art was really fun, as was the painting with the melted wax. We also loved the crayon personalization, where you can name a crayon and apply the wrapper yourself.
I think for Jaiden, he really loved that he was able to create a race car crayon out of the melted wax and of course he was ecstatic at every chance that he got at just plain coloring too!
